Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I have to be a member of The Circle of Gaia
Dreaming to come to events?
A: No. Our events are open to the public and are structured
to help both folks with previous experience and newcomers to be able to
connect at their own level.
Q: Do I have to wear special clothing to attend
a ritual?
A: Although sometimes people dress up or wear garb, it is
not necessary. A number of folks who attend always wear street clothing.
It is your choice. We do not do clothing optional rituals - so please
wear some clothes! *grin*
Q: When I become a member of The Circle of Gaia
Dreaming, am I also joining the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Athens?
A: No. The Circle of Gaia Dreaming is affiliated with the
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Athens, but being a member of one
organization does not make you automatically a member of the other. In
order to become a member of the fellowship, you must sign the fellowship
membership book. Within our circle we have people who are members
of both and members of one or the other. Again, the choice is up to you.
Q: I am not really a Pagan (witch, Wiccan, etc.).
I am just interested in it. Can I still come to rituals?
A: Yes! This is a great place to learn more about these spiritual
paths. We are not into conversion or anything like that. However, if you
come, we hope that you will participate to the best of your ability. There
is always someone willing to answer your questions about any given event.
Q: I noticed that you have potlucks after rituals.
What do I need to bring?
A: Hopefully you can bring a dish to share. This can be anything
from appetizers to main dishes to salad to bread to deserts to drinks.
It is also helpful if you bring your own table service., but there is
usually service available at the event. If you do use table service provided
at the event, it is nice if you help to clean up afterwards. (i.e. wash
your own dishes)
Q: I am a college student who wants to do a photo
documentary, video, interviews etc...for a class. Can come and take pictures,
videotape, etc. your events?
A: Sorry - but no.
First off, many people do not want to be publically identified as Pagan
for a variety of reasons - jobs, family, etc. Secondly, video just doesn't
capture the essence of what happens when you are in ritual - most folks
look pretty goofy on tape! Thirdly, this is a serious religious practice
and we really aren't interested in having a distracting presence at our
rituals.
If you want - we can put you in touch with individuals who might be willing
to do a ritual or interviews for projects. Contact our public relations
coordinator at pubrel@NOREPLYgaiadreaming.org.
It's not that we don't want to help - we do! We have often found people
who were willing to do photo shoots, be interviewed, etc. We even had
a large number of folks participate in a Master's Degree research project.
We just don't invite these presences to our open events for safety, personal
space and spiritual reasons.
Q: My e-mail messages to you are bouncing. Why is
this?
A: Did you remove the words NOREPLY from the TO address? We had to
make these changes to the website because officers were literally getting
hundreds of spam e-mails a day. Automated webcrawlers can harvest e-mail
addresses from websites. So, we've changed every e-mail address and added
NOREPLY in all of the code to prevent this from happening. It's not as
convenient as before, but hopefully this will lessen the tedious job of
going through tons of penis enlargement, weight loss, and stock tip e-mails
a day!
